Mission
Developing Peak Mental Health and dimensional wellbeing for VETERANS struggling WITH PTS through Human Optimization using Ocean Therapy and BODYMIND ACTIVATION.
Background
WHO WE ARE
BTSF is the embodiment of a powerful healing journey; a lighthouse for those struggling to navigate rocky waters.
We are watermen/women, teachers, healers, and SO Veterans. We have stood in darkness. And with these practices, we have found growth and healing.
WHAT WE DO
United by our commitment to serve, we provide authentic, healing modalities that teach lifelong, resiliency practices for those struggling with PTS.
BTSF’s curricula revitalizes and enhances lives - shining light into the darkness, returning a sense of purpose and hope.
HOW WE DO IT
Attendees are immersed into a progressive curriculum - optimizing through Ocean Therapy, BodyMind Activation, and Breathwork, to alter the negative impacts PTS has on the human soul. Fundamentals are taught for all attendees to feel confident in continuing to seek these practices post-immersion.

History
At present, there are more than 20 million veterans in the United States. Of those, 15% suffer significant psychological trauma, with 10% more living as victims of physical injury. A growing suicide epidemic plagues combat veterans, while drugs, alcohol, and destructive behaviors are increasingly popular amongst the surviving.
War changes everyone. There is no way to escape the horrors of combat and return unscathed. Masked relief drives us further away from the true Self; learning to avoid, rather than face the demons in a productive way. While awareness and support for veteran healing has increased exponentially in recent conflicts, there is still a magnitude of work to be done.
The journey to heal is deeply personal. What works for one person may not for another. Despite our commonality as Veterans and service members, every one is unique, with individual lives and experiences. It is in this quality, that the inner work must be sought out and embraced. When growth comes from within, through deep reflection, purposeful living, community support, and service, the effects are systemic and rich. Light returns , purpose is found, and hope is restored.
THIS is WHY Beneath the Surface Foundation was created.
